Just when I thought I'd seen it all.
I found a piece of incoming mail at work today with a "return to Sender" sticker covering the address. Returned mail is nothing unusual, but what made this one stand out was the custom RTS sticker. Normally these will say something like "Mailstop required" or "Department Required" etc.
This one?
"RETURN TO SENDER Full Name, SPN# and Cell Block Required to Identify Inmate"
Wait, what???
I actually did a double-take when I saw that. I've seen a lot of bizarre stuff come in the mail, but I've never seen something bounce back from what turned out to be a prison.
I took it to someone authorized to open mail and - after their own WTF moment - we determined it was a check from accounts payable for a speaking appearance someone had made at a seminar.
In all likelihood this was a simple mistake. Without revealing what my customer's business is, let's just say I rather doubt they engaged a prisoner to speak at a seminar.
