I stopped by the new Future Shop near my house today, to pick up some videos. When I had them all picked out, I start walking to the first cash register I see, near the entrace. An employee calls to me from a register across the store, saying he can take me at that register.


I look over there and see a big "CHECKOUT" sign hanging from the ceiling. I look above me and see a big "CUSTOMER SERVICE" sign.


Me: How the hell did I miss that huge thing?
Cashier: *deep sigh* EVERYONE misses that...


Open a week, and I bet they have already gotten some bitchy confused people...

Well, I look up, 'cause I look everywhere, but looking up just doesn't seem to be programmed into most of us.

Well, I look up, 'cause I look everywhere, but looking up just doesn't seem to be programmed into most of us.

I don't look up most times because, for me, there's usually no 'up' to look to indoors. I can reach up and press the pads of my fingers against the ceiling in most houses without my heels leaving the ground. When I'm in a store with high ceilings I'm constantly looking up because I get a *WOAH* feeling not having the ceiling within 2 feet of my head.

Yeah it's funny, the new stores have the signs about 5 times the size of a person and about twice the weight hanging at the 10 foot level above the store.

Still get people asking where they are. Maybe the signs should be lowered to the 5 foot mark.

Having worked in the cafe for 6 months now, I honestly just noticed our hanging signs. One says "order here" over the register, and I can't remember the wording of the other one, but it's over the counter where I put the drinks. Most people line up at the register, but when I'm making a bunch of orders, I have the people who are lining up to receive their drinks, then people line up behind them to order! It's funny cos I can take orders while I make drinks if I see people at the register. They're just making it longer for themselves.

PS Yes, I'm always on my own at the cafe, management don't care that if I have a rush I can't handle it myself and I lose customers who don't want to wait to be served.
