For a few minutes today, it was horrific.
A. was supposed to start at 4. At 4:10, her MOM called and said she was running a little late, and then started rambling on about how A. wanted to quit, and "last night was sooooooooooooooooooo overwhelming" and God knows what else, and something about B. was supposed to be working and...::screaming:: I finally told her Mom that she (A.) would need to talk to M (bossman). Mom siad that A. would call to let me know when she was on her way.
First of all, A. is an adult, and should call in herself. Second of all, I am not the manager, so I can't do anything about anyone wanting to quit, except to be selfish and try to talk them out of it. Oh yeah, I guess you wan't be picking up any extra hours now. Like you would have gotten them anyway. 3 people were in line ahead of you for that request.
A. never called, and didn't show up. Big surprise.
About 5 minutes after that, a customer called and said that we overcharged her Mastercard. She said that she had been in there 45 minutes earlier, and had prepaid for $40 and we charged her $60.
I would have remembered her, because the only prepays I handled were in cash, so I would have remembered a CC. I searched frantically for her receipt, which of course I didn't have. She insisted that <I> was the one who rang her up. I told her that I would love to help her, but that I couldn't find the reciept. She called me rude, told me that I had an attitude, and demanded to talk to my manager. I swear by everything that is holy that I was NOT rude to her, and customers that were waiting patiently for me to handle this assured me that I wasn't.
After she hung up on me, and the customers cleared out, I dug throught bossman's receipts, since I rang up a few people on his register (even though I KNOW I didn't handle this transaction). Nothing. On a whim I went through Br.'s receipts and guess what I found? A reciept for a prepay of $40. Guess what time it had happened? 20 minutes before I even got to work.
I'll bet anything I still get yelled at for it.
