So technically I have been working right? I am doing the modeling thing and we have our own production company. Sadly neither pays really well at this point and lets face it, I'm getting bored. It's been great living on my um, inheritance but obviously it's not going to last forever.

Here is the sad thing, I don't want a "real" job just yet. Mentally I don't think I'm where I need to be yet after mom's death. That and the idea of working corporate again makes me want to puke.

I'd really like to start working for one of the local gamer shops around here. I'm not the hippest when it comes to the newest systems but I do know a lot about games. That and I do love playing video games.

So how do I explain I'm looking at taking a step down from my finance degree with out sounding like I'm a slacker? I know it's not going to be an "easier" job but it does seem so much more "fun" than dealing with the normal accounting bs all day.

    Any advice will be great.
Today was going to be just one of those days...you know, full of zombies.

Well, I think the best thing to say would be "I discovered I missed working with the public. I want to help people, and this seems like a good environment where I can help people have fun."

That way it doesn't sound like you're "downgrading" or "slacking" but instead returning to something you enjoyed.

If asked, explain that your mum's death has affected you and you would rather do a less intensive job.

I'm in a similar position, I'm working in a cinema because I'm recovering from depression, and don't feel up to doing a job that befits my mathematics degree. The cinema was actually pleased to have a highly qualified applicant.
