I'm supposed to be *ahem* catching it in a jar every time I go to the bathroom and then straining it to see if the stone has passed, but right now it's the UTI that's kicking my arse.
Dear lord, how are you even sitting up typing in that much pain? I've had UTIs, i've had kidney stones....but never at the same time. I don't think i'd be able to function if i had them simultaneously.

I was supposed to do the catch it in a jar thing too, but when you pass it in the middle of the night and you're half asleep, you just don't care.

It's good to hear they have you on Cipro. It's a really nice and strong antibiotic. I had a few days left from when I had E Coli after my trip to Cambodia this past January. Started taking them when I felt a UTI coming on this past Friday. Was right as rain again on Sunday. Just in time to move all the large furniture from my apartment (oiy, wish I could have played hookie on that one), but not before excrutiating pain in a corset in July heat in the mountains for a friend's wedding (le sigh, but she was so pretty in her Renaissance wedding gown!).

I'm thrilled to hear that you're on the mend and still employed!

Wagegoth: Sadly, I cannot. In Canada at least, there is a 3 month probation where they can let you go for no reason if they want to (So long as its not racism or anything like that).

I dont know if this would count though since I was still on probation, and I had told them when i started about my medication, and that I had changed it when I realized it was making me drowsy.

        Meh.

Cool new avatar, by the way!

The second time I had the stones, my ex-husband did a little online research and found something saying that people who get kidney stones also tend to get bone spurs (which I've also had) and vice versa. Also, if you've had stones before, you'll probably get them again. Not a happy thought.
Regarding Avatar: Thanks. Basically, that's what Andara in City of Heroes looks like. They gave us new ear options and stuff. *yay*

My family is prone to UTIs, but I never get them, for which I am also thankful. Cranberry juice is good for keeping things running properly. And if you're prone to such things, nylons are evil as are any lower body undergarments that are not cotton.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing better with the medication, at least.

When I started my happy pills, my doc said I would most likely "feel drunk for about a week"...boy was he right! I couldn't even drive because every time I turned my head (or yawned) the room would spin (as opposed to the gentle swaying it did when I was standing perfectly still). I told all my managers in the beginning, though, so they wouldn't think I was suddenly coming to work drunk or something. But I wasn't new to the job, either. They were understanding though and I got a few extra breaks out of it.

Noelegy, glad your job is safe...

Most of the U.S. is at-will employment, which means they can let you go whenever they want, not just during a probationary period, but there are exceptions. That's where laws like the ADA come in. I would think that in Canada there is something similar. Check with the Canadian equivalent of the EEOC.
