I did not know it was a road course. I assumed it was an oval. My bad.

For a road course? Rockin' speeds. Basically I just assumed way more than I should have. Again, my bad.

So the person who hit the top speed hit around 106mph. Regardless, that's sweet. And formula 1 racing is a lot of slowing down and accelerating so there's little room to get too high in speed.

Racing is something I wouldn't mind getting into. Even if it was just drag racing with cars. First I need a new car (I don't think my stock 2.4 liter 4-banger cavy is good enough to race), preferably a Corvette, though an old Shelby Cobra will do. Then, I need to learn how to drive stick.

Not necessarily. I mean, I don't know about where you live, but I know there are a lot of places with racetracks where the tracks sponsor amateur stock racing. Basically you bring your car out to the track, and you race against similar vehicles. Your Cav would go up against similar 4 bangers. My Blazer would probably go up against Explorers and Durangos, etc. Obviously such a thing is dependent on there being a local track, and it actually sponsoring (or being open to sponsor) such events.

          Just a thought.

Still, if I was going to race it, I'd have to make a few modifications to it. From what I can tell, it looks like I could fit a six-cylinder engine in there. I'd HAVE to turbo charge it. And a few other things would help. But I'm just too much a fan of muscle cars.

I wish the company I worked for gave us something to look forward to. The best we get is "breakfast for employees will be out by 10am". It never is for that matter. And breakfast usually consists of: ribs, fried chicken, powder eggs, etc. You get the idea. Stuff that isn't appetizing at 10 in the morning.

I can't think of a time when ribs are ever not appetizing!

the first is sports car club of america and the second two are for the northeast division. the solo racing is what jester is talking about. the vast majority are people racing their factory-made, no modification cars. heck, i did a few races in the van (that didnt work so well as the van had trouble accelerating)

I used to know a guy who was into the pro-am stuff. Although he's a bit more than just a bit into it. He runs a Camaro in the Camaro Mustang Challenge, and also hosts their site. He does other pro-am track racing, as well.

There are actually races that are specifically for the smaller-engine car classes. He has some 4-banger he's gotten all tricked out for those, too.
