At work yesterday, I was making my rounds in the department and I noticed a guy needed help. He gave me the look like, "I need you here with me now" (Maybe not quite like that... but, I like to think I'm that good).
I've had a lot on my mind lately, so really taking crap from anyone hasn't been my forte'.
So I start walking towards the guy that gave me the look of desperation and I was coming up on someone else. It's polite to say "hi" so that's what I said. I didn't say anything more.
He snaps at me: "I'm just walking through. I don't need help. If I need help I'll find you."
Now me, I'm a true smartass at heart, I reply back "Sir, I was just saying hi because it's the polite thing to do. I was actually heading towards that gentleman who wants to talk to me. So no, you don't have to worry about me selling you anything, I'm not going to try. I'm just trying to be polite and make you feel welcomed at my store. OK?"
Then I walked off. He pretty much just sat there stunned for a moment.
Yes, don't mess with me when I'm not in the mood. And if someone says "hi" the least you can say is "hi! I'm just looking" Don't get defensive about it. I hate it when people are rude!
