  • Point in question: if it makes sense, it's not allowed

Yesterday, on my own initiative, I put all but one copy each of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements into our Lock Up. As I've noted before, these two titles have a nasty habit of "disappearing" and I'm sick of it. We don't sell so many copies that we need more than 1 each on the shelf, so this way the losses can be curtailed. Hell, I'd prefer to go to empty display boxes for those titles if I could.

I mentioned this to my lead when she came in. She didn't disapprove, but did note that "we aren't allowed to do that."

OK, seriously. We aren't allowed to take steps to prevent theft? Mind boggling.

    But as the saying goes.......

Hmm...She doesn't disapprove, and only spouts the company line to CYA.

I would go ahead and see if you can be proactive and replace the shelf copies with an empty box. Make sure to mark it as such. You might even get away with it.
