Lately, the boss has been in a foul mood, which he has been taking out on me, which consequently puts ME in a foul mood, which I take out on him, and, well, I think you can see where this cycle is going. Yesterday the situation was exacerbated by various other frustrations, so by the time the sucky non-customer called in, I was just waiting for the nice fellows with the white jackets to show up.
Well, the phone rings, and at this point in my day, this alone is enough to make me froth at the mouth. I growl, get it out of my system, and greet the caller with the cheeriness of a ra-ra girl. The caller is not feeling the cheer, she apparently has a legal problem, and no one will help her with it. Generally speaking, if no one else wants the case, neither do we, and when she tells me her situation, I've got a pretty good idea that this isn't the golden opportunity we've been waiting for either. Nonetheless, I put her on hold and run the call by the boss. Boss tells me to send her away.
So I get back on the phone, still all sorts of good cheer and pep, to let our caller know that Mr. Boss will not be able to assist. Caller wants to know if we can recommend someone, and I am just about to express my condolences that we can not, when she fires off with, "or are you going to be just like all the other fucking idiots in this town that won't help me!?!"
Now, you remember I had been having a bad day anyhow? And you remember boss had already told me to get rid of this lady? It was the perfect opportunity for me to tell her, "Well, ma'am, I guess we're going to be like all the other fucking idiots. You have a nice day now! *click*"
Ahhh, I wish I could curse people out more often.
