I just started at Panera's as a cashier to get a pay check since those college loans are creeping up on me and I can't leech off my boyfriend forever. I just started on Thursday. My coworkers are really nice, albeit a little nutty, but a good kinda nutty. And the management is really nice too, so I lucked out.
But anyways, on my first day I fell into a conversation with a customer as I was preparing her order. I mentioned it was my first day because I was going a little slow. So she asked if I was in school, I mention I graduated, she asked from where and w/ what degree, I say my college and Graphic Design. She's suddenly like, 'Oh! My daughter's a graphic designer! Works for this place called <Graphic Design Place>! It's a great place! All 20-somethings, really laid-back atmosphere, she loves it there! Here, let me get your email address and I'll have her email you if they have any openings, you'd love it there!' So I give her my address, but don't think much of it because why would someone email some random girl their mom met at Panera's?
But the very next day I get an email w/ the subject line 'You met my mom at Panera Bread?'! So it ends up they have an opening for an entry level production artist (no experience necessary!) starting in January! How cool is that?? I just put in my resume and emailed the girl back. Later that day, I got another email back from her saying that my resume is really impressive and she'll put in a good word for me w/ the hiring manager!!!
So keep your fingers crossed for me because this place looks amazing! It's in Washingtonian Magazine's Top Places to Work and is the exact place I want to work for right now! I am so beyond excited, I just had to share my good news!!!
