Never smoked, don't plan on it. My dad is an ex-smoker. He couldn't smoke in the main floor meaning the area where me, my mom, and my sister hung out. Dad had to smoke outside or in the basement which also happened to be where his office was. The problem with that was the smoke would travel upstairs and that we could smell it. It annoyed the crap out of us that it even annoyed my dad and he just up and quit out of the blue. He also said that he did some math and he realized how much he was spending on cigs.

I don't have a problem with smokers but as soon as you blow it in my face on purpose (With exceptions) then there will be hell to pay.

On a side note, has anyone not old enough to remember ever see those old commercials for cigarettes? They're hilarious.

The other thing I can't stand is that my college puts the designated smoking areas right in front of the doors to every building. Like, benches and ashtrays kinda designated. There's a petition to get them moved, but they're dragging their feet over it because the way these buildings are set up there aren't a lot of other options beyond "build brand-new smoking shelters".

We've been discussing at work lately how much it would benefit them, especially around this time of year when the weather is atrocious, to put in a heated "phone booth" type set up outside for the smokers. We keep seeing emails going around "reminding" us of the 20-ft rule and whatnot, but when it's snowing and nasty out, smokers are not going to not smoke, they're just going to do so under the covered portion, which is not the designated area.

It's the same way I feel about no smoking in bars - it won't hurt your business if you can find a way to accomodate it, as some places near me have done, by putting in a sheltered and possibly even heated area outdoors to keep the smokers where you want them.
