My poor mother. The woman in this story has to be one of the stupidest people alive or in need of some serious coke bottle glasses, because my mother looks maybe 30something at her oldest.
She started a new job almost a month ago, and one of her coworkers asked her if she had any grandchildren yet. I think my mother wanted to cry.
Now, that's not too far fetched, considering prime childbearing years around here are 12-18, and there are some grandparents who aren't even 38 yet, but my poor mother.......

Senior discount at FORTY?!? Yikes. That's...not right.Quoth Primer View PostI went out to dinner once and noticed on the menu that they offered a senior discount at 40.
What I do find funny though is that seniors in Canada (or at least Alberta) is 65+, and we got Americans all the time who are used to 55+ish being the mark, and they'd buy seniors ticket at the ABO, and I'd have to send them back for adult tickets. Once I'd explained the difference, the reactions were fairly varied, but I don't remember anyone actually sucking over it. One lady did let out a little yelp, and say "I'm not THAT old!"

Disclaimer: I really did not intend to be as verbose.
I'm one is also always mistaken for much younger than I am. My teenage co-workers don't realize that I'm not a peer, and my older co-workers didn't realize that I wasn't a REALLY young mother.
If it's night, customers guess my age at about 16, if it's day, they guess it at 18. I'm thinking it's because at night--they assume the high school kids can work, and during the day, I'd have to at least be out of school to work?
I can always tell when a customer thinks I'm a teenager--they get that tone of voice--not always condescending, not always rude--just "you're a child"--tone. I do set them straight. Nicely.
I'm really bad at guessing ages. It has to do with always looking significantly younger than I am. Most people do that backpeddling thing--"oh it's because you wear your hair/don't wear makeup/other random thing".-- It's not really that big of a deal.
I do remember, when I was about 22, waiting to get my hair cut...and the woman making chit chat with me...asked "so, is school out today?" (and it was obvious from her tone that she was NOT referring to college). I told her something like "hell if I know..."
When I brought my oldest son to school last year--for the first day of first grade--another mother stopped me and asked if he was my brother or my son.
When he was an infant, a cashier at walmart quizzed me about the very same thing, but that was because I was with my mother.
And when I was pregnant with him, I looked 16. Many many stares. One older woman came up and comforted me, and when I told her my age she said "oh, shoot! I thought you were a BABY!"
I don't get that as much anymore, when I have both boys with me. I guess I just exude that MOM look about me. Which I think is frazzled and unkempt. Or distracted.
My mother has said, more than once, that the women in my family look really really young, until one day...suddenly...we look..OLD. Fun fun.

Nice Lady turned beet red and tried to backpedal..but damage was done. TBH I don't think I look older than 36 AT THE WORST. Hell, people take me for 20ish due to my attitude and acne!
I was born the year the OSI was born.

I'm 20 and I've had mixed opinions. Some people have told me that I look older, others say that I look my age, while others have stated that I look younger. I think the best one has to be younger as a friend of mine once said that I haven't changed a bit since my 16th birthday.

I usually get guesses that are anywhere between 6 and 8 years low. I'm 42, but the highest most people guess is 36.

One thing doctors will write in their H&Ps (History and Physical) about patients is "looks younger than stated age" or "looks older than stated age". They don't always, but do so when it's a significant deviation from the norm.

I'm at the point where I don't get carded anymore if I'm out with my parents. And it's not like my parents care. I still haven't tried buying something from a liquor store though. I'm too scared of being caught and getting into trouble. I gotta keep a clean record for when I want to end up with the FBI.
Most people tend to think I'm older than I really am by a few years. During my previous summer job, the summer before senior year of high school, people were asking me when I was going back to college. Going back? Heck, I haven't even started. At this point, I don't mind being mistaken for being a lil older than I am. At 19, that's a good thing.
