  • Goin' Back to Retail

Hi all. Well, I've been looking for a job for over a year now. I've gotten some temp work that I liked but none turned into permanent positions. So, I'm looking to go back to retail at least part-time just to have some money coming in. (Darn bills anyway )

So, the following stores are some that I'm looking at. Could anyone chip in with some info about what the salary is, employee discount, schedule flexibility, general work environment, etc?

    Target
    Barnes & Noble
    Borders
    Albertson's
    Fred Meyer
    JoAnn Fabric
    Petco
    PetSmart
    Office Depot
My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.---Cary Grant

I think for every store, your best bet is to find someone working at that location. Location location location. I work p/t at "Big Box Retail" and I know my store is much different than one in a, err, worse part of town. I was tempted to take a job at B&N once, but I will say that they were hiring for minimum wage only, though I would have loved a discount on books

If money is an issue, you may want to look at a big box store, which tend to be more corporate but may pay more. Just a thought. Also, don't hesitate to look at temping, which may give you some experience to add to a resume.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

Flybye already said he worked as a temp. Just go and find someone there and ask them about the different jobs.
