Got our first truck of this week. 2087 cartons.

This is by far the largest truck my store has ever received. As you can imagine, it was a pain in the ass to unload, and in a little while I have to go back in and help fill it with our skeleton crew which is two people short because management adamantly refuses to replace two people that retired.

We're going to have to scrounge up people off the salesfloor to help us, and then listen to them piss and moan because they have to help us. Management could be helping too, but if Ditzy Twit's working she won't go anywhere near the truck.

We could use the carryout person too, but I have a feeling Numbnuts is working today, so we can forget about him.

This is my summer right here folks. Fewer trucks because gas is expensive, but each one will be packed as full as humanly possible.

Have I mentioned how much it sucks to be me?

If I could surf youtube videos here at work, I'd try and find that song from Avenue Q...

And sounds like you really are in for a fun summer, eh?

Well, we did alright considering that we got little to no floor help (the two openers had to prep their ads so we pulled somebody else off the floor to fill repacks, along with the opening manager and the receiving clerk.

We got a tidal wave of clothes and shoes in. It shouldn't take the softlines people longer than Friday to get it all done. If they don't have it done by then, they get to add Friday's truck to what's left.

Numbnuts was working and being his usual worse-than-useless self. I swear I heard two carryout pages go over 5 times before he finally answered. It was so bad I got asked to help him with carryouts after we finished the truck.

At least I got to unintentionally take out some frustrations on a High School Musical doll that fell off it's pallet as I was lifting it to the top floor and got run over by the forklift. It's going to be pretty hard for Sharpay to dance with no arms or legs. BTW, who the hell names their child after a dog?

Management also had a nice treat for us grunts--they called us away for a mandatory meeting, which consisted of them giving us funnoodles. We got to whack our fellow stock people with the funnoodles, then threw them (the funnoodles, not the stock people) through hula-hoops held up by the managers. We divided up into teams, men vs. women, and it was a race to throw the noodles through the hoops 10 times. The women won.

Did you get to hit the management who refused to hire more people?

We weren't given baseball bats, so even if I did the point wouldn't have been made.

No better tonight. 1700 cartons, which is still huge for our store.

All the bulk wasn't done when I left. The two guys staying until 9:30 will have to finish it, or else I'll get bitched at tomorrow morning probably.

I changed my availability tonight. I cut it back to 8 pm on weeknights. If I'm working truck I only work until 9, I never work until 10, and this way I could still do truck for 3 hours, get some decent sleep and roll back in at 5 am if needed.

Now to see if management tries to get me to change my mind by threatening to bust me down to part time again....
