They have raised their rates by over $100 over the last 2 hours, and I know damned well it's for no other reason than to profiteer off of all the canceled flights in new york tonight. And they, despite the fact that they are screwing their guests, don't have the balls to tell the guests their extortionist rates themselves and would rather send them over to us so we have to deal with the people who are rightly upset that the hotel just rose their rates by $100. I am so ready to walk out... I can't handle this much longer... hell busing tables would be a move up, at least I would be in a situation where I'm not just as pissed off as the guest is because I think they're right.

Hotels do that. My boss has done it twice. The Drury Inn down the street and Extended Stay America in Sugar Land? They kept their rates cheap and sell out. *shrugs*
You can't change these things unless you own a hotel outright yourself. (Something I would like to do some day. and they just went up another $50 sense my first post... currently the rate is $500 for a standard room
in queens Manhattan itself isn't that bad

They're doing it because people will pay that amount for the room.

Back during OTC (Offshore Technology Conference), my boss raised the rate by 100$ the month before and then the week of, raised it another $50 and the day before he raised it again.
