As most of you know (or should by now!
) I work in a hotel. I have worked in many over the past three years and I think I know what the average person wants in a stay. But my question is what is your thoughts?
I want to own my own hotel one day and was talking to a co-worker (Preggers M) about the updating the hotel I currently work at needs. So I've compiled a list of the ideals I want my hotel to have; include your own thoughts and help me create the perfect hotel!
-- Hardwood flooring EVERYWHERE
I hate carpet. It gathers dust like there's no tomorrow, houses fleas (pet friendly hotels are occationally plagued with them) and take forever to dry once you run a carpet cleaner machine on it. I think hardwood would help get rid of the allergens that hide in the carpet.
-- Microwaves and Refridgerators
I like my creature comforts and a real comfort to me is having a nice cold drink. I once stayed in a very ritzy hotel in downtown Atlanta for a convention several years ago and was there for several days, nearly a week. I was shocked to discover that my room didn't come with a microwave or fridge. When I inquired about it, the front desk person told me that very few rooms have such a feature, and did I want to upgrade? Luckily I had an electric cooler so I politely declined her offer and asked her to save it for someone more in need of it. At least it had a coffee pot we used to boil water for the Ramen.
-- Indoor Pool
I'm constantly being asked if we have a indoor or outdoor pool. Maybe I should go with both?
--Excersice room
Ditto this room. So many hotels have them but I rarely, if ever, see anyone use it. Yet I'm always asked.
I'd like to see what I can do with a Game Room, either arcade style or BYOGS (Bring Your Own Game System). Of course I'd like a small cafe area for breakfast and dinner. Almost no one is here around lunch time since they're all checking out and going home.
What would you guys add?

I can't tell you the number of times, I hear (feel) the rooms around me when I had to stay at a hotel. I've been to all kinds, the little hotel by the airport. Even those nice upscale ones that cost too much to stay at (love it when clients wants you to stay at their chosen hotel). No matter, there always a kid or 2 running the hallways.
