He was shot fatally with a blank
he had a good career going until he started playing with a prop-gun loaded with blanks...
On October 12, 1984, in between filming scenes on the set of Cover Up, Hexum was critically wounded after he placed a .44 Magnum prop gun loaded with blanks to his temple and pulled the trigger.....
Hexum was apparently unaware that blanks use paper or plastic wadding to seal gun powder into the shell, and that this wadding is propelled out of the barrel of the gun with enough force to cause severe injury or death if the weapon is fired within a few inches of the body, especially if pointed at a particularly vulnerable spot, such as the temple or the eye. Although the paper wadding in the blank that Hexum discharged did not penetrate his skull, the wad struck him in the temple with enough blunt force trauma to shatter a quarter-sized piece of his skull and propel the pieces into his brain causing massive hemorrhaging.

and ... yeah guns loaded with blanks? Personally I think that's just an accident waiting to happen. What's wrong with ordering some of those molded plastic training weapons? It's not like they're impossible to find... heck www.lapolicegear.com should have some... yeah like this. I mean...heck, back when I worked security, that's what we had to train with. No accidents allowed.

) and pray that said maniac doesn't squeeze the trigger instinctively and if he does that his aim will have been thrown off... then run like hell out the back office door and to room 123 with my master key and lock myself in (and any guest in there that wants to complain can go to hell). Management has never said a word about it... that's just something I thought of during a really slow period at work... then I can dial 911 and Fenrus can send the police.
