  • *glare* Really?

Let's say you have this secretary that generally kicks ass. Say she just got off a really crappy phone call with the Business Manager and is bawling at her own frustration/stupidity. Say said secretary goes back to the bathroom to cry/clean up and comes back to blast ska/punk music for the last 45 minutes of work.

Would you really find it very smart or life friendly to poke at her via email about being upset?

    ...He's lucky he left early.

Not that anyone cares but I did get an apology and reassurance from my main boss that yes he and the BM do know that I know how to do my job. No one thinks otherwise. There's a glitch some where in the communication but both do think I'm a highly valuable asset to this job. I still was bawling going in to work this morning. Fun day.

Wait, what did the email say? In the first post I got the impression that it was (un)friendly ribbing about crying at work, but in the second post there's some implication that you don't know how to do your job?

Ok I LOVE your avatar! ...Wow how's that for being off topic there??

And yes, the statements were made that I just "need to learn how to do my job" and we wouldn't have these problems. Technically it's still "good natured" ribbing. I work in the construction field. The worst is that every time I do reports/forms/et al that I feel great about (say figuring out things or finding problems, what ever) it's never right and I get my hide tanned from one side to the other.

I usually let it roll off but yesterday I cracked. I know I'm doing a good job. If you want me to learn something, freeken send me to training or send me some help like has been promised for six months. That's why the damned report was six months late.

*sigh* I'll get over it I know. You bust ass and no one gives a flying damn.

You should respond to his email at face value. "Dear Boss, thank you so much for volunteering to train me on this very important issue. I know it's the highest priority for you and Business Manager, and I'm excited that six months of waiting has come to an end. I'll see you here bright and early tomorrow morning!"

If he whines, you can just tell him that it's "good natured ribbing" just like what he gave you.

And thank you for the compliment! It's Zeetha from Girl Genius, in case you haven't read the comic. I recommend it to anyone who likes adventure, romance, and/or mad science.

Ok I like that idea! It's not as PA/rude as the things that were popping into my head. AND it does address the problem. Thanks for the advice!!

I absolutely adore the artwork in Girl Genius. Sadly I'm really behind with the story right now. They are on my list of comic artist/authors that I'd like to meet before I die.
