A bit of background....I'm about finished with my associate's degree in chemical dependency counseling. I just have the internship I'm currently working and one more internship to complete next quarter.
The treatment center I'm interning at this quarter has opened two full time drug and alcohol counselor positions! I do not have near the experience they are looking for, but I was advised to send my resume in anyway. So, I did.
I'm nervous though. If I get it, my lack of experience will mean that I will be low on the pay scale. Couselors make shit. Really. I knew getting into this field that I can't be in it for the money. In order for anyone to make money in the human services field, you have to have a masters. (Which I've applied to University of Nebraska to start working towards that master's -but I don't have it yet)
So, I'm excited yet very apprehensive. If I get it, I am sure I'll be taking a major pay cut.
We shall see.
