Don't put all of your trust in locking gas caps. There is a trick to them to get them open without the key.

We do it all the time where I work, customer pulls up and tells us how much gas they want and we have the cap off before they can find the key. And yes the cap still works the way it shouls, its doesnt damage it at all.

The only ones we cant do that to is the ones that lock and unlock with the key. If you turn your cap and it clicks it can be opened. If it just spins then we can't get it off with out the key.

Also if someone really wanted your gas they would only need a simple screwdriver.... We have done this for people that have a cap that just spins and either lost the key or bought the car and didn't get the key for the cap.
