    But I bet it will be beat by the end of the year.

    I've had a store log several tickets for issues that are really basic, printers unplugged, network cables unplugged, and so on. Something that most people can overlook but the only issue is that these are usually something that you'd have to deliberately try to unplug to unplug it. I don't know who was doing it but the only good part is that it was upping my ticket count (more tickets are better for me). It could be customers or it could be some moronic employees, this store in paticular has both.

    So, I'll start with the funny part. I was emailing with Talonetc and he was joking that I never get up to his store (haven't been there in at least a month). He said he was going to pull al of the cables out of the rack so I would be forced to head up there. I laughed it off thinking he was joking but then I got an email, from our headquarters. They were having problems connecting to some testing equipment connected to the LAN.

    Oh $h!t.

    Of course, Talonetc didn't unplug anything and luckily he's one of the few (seems like most stores have one phone tech who is semi-knowledgeable when it comes to LANs, nothing too extensive, make sure cables are plugged in etc..) educated employees. I'm playing middle man and bouncing emails and of course, nothing he can do is helping and there are no spare ports on the faster switch.

    Hop in the van for a 60 minute drive to the store.

    I get to the store and do some troubleshooting and I try to see if a port on the faster router is just plugged in and not being used. Nope. So, any items that don't need the fast connection (printers etc..). Nope. I talk to the guy back in HQ and we might have to escalate it further.

    So, I decide to get other things done. Move a printer that the techs aren't supposed to have back to where it is supposed to be (Talonetc is mad at me for this one), configure it, check other items. One of their interactive centers isn't working. Huh, it's off, no biggie. I turn it on and it's working. Odd, it won't print. It's not even seeing the printer. The printer is off but it won't turn on. I pull it out and wouldn't you guess? Someone took the RJ-45 *and* the power cord. I run out to my van and grab a spare of each and plug it in. Huh, now it's not pulling an IP address. Neither printer is. I trace the lines back to the lan and wouldn't you know it, someone REMOVED the RJ-45 cables that connect the ports to the switches. Why me? Wait, no spare ports and 2 printers not connected? Something isn't right. Luckily I start tracing lines that don't have lights. The first one just isn't plugged into the port, I plug it in, check the printer, it has an IP. Now I just install it into the PC. One down.

    Now it gets fun.

    I trace another one. Someone, IN THE STORE, decided it would be fun to plug one of the ports int he switch to another port in the SAME SWITCH. So, I unplug one end and plug it into the port that goes out to the second printer and I head out to install that one.

    Now it gets good.

    The printer has an IP address but it is displaying "install black toner cartridge". That's an odd one but maybe it is settled or empty. I pull the printer back out and guess what?

    Someone took the black toner cartridge out of the printer. They physically REMOVED it out of the printer.

    Of course, I guess they decided that wasn't enough so what else did they do?

    They took several of these little business card sized schedules for the Miami Dolphins and shoved them in anyplace they would (and wouldn't) fit INSIDE the printer.

    Seriously? Someone went though all this just to be a jackass? it's not like this is the kind of neighborhood where people can afford this printer!

    The manager is now getting a ticket in to get the locks on these doors (that block the printer) fixed. He's making sure to note that people are physically damaging the printers.

    Damn, and I thought I had a bad day. Running 3 Cat5E runs and 1 RG6 to every room in a house. Spend 2 and a half hours to get ONE finished room finished, oh and both my RG6 compression tool and my RG45 crimper are missing, so I had to order new ones and will wait a week for the RG6 and probably 2 weeks for the RJ45.

    Why over 2 hours for one room? Drilling through cement board wall, then insulation stuffed loosly into the wall got stuck on the drill bit (I saw the energy efficiency audit - exterior walls insulated to R-4), another cement board wall, pull wires into garage, then drill hole into basement. Through cement board wall, and floor joist. Then into electrical room (old house with a room in the basement designated for electrical, phone, networking and storage). Through concrete block, drill through mortar because its supposed to be softer. Well, after 40 years it hardens. And drill bit gets stuck. Bit manages to loosen from keyed chuck, which was very tight when i started this wall. So I have hammer drill in hand, bit removed from drill and stuck in wall. Cat5E and RG6 wires are on the basement floor of that house until Monday when I go back, make a hole in the wall, hopefully with a larger bit than my 3/8" bit, perhaps a 1.5" hole saw, so that I can run multiple wires through it.

    Oh, and I forgot to label the wires. They aren't labeled, all three Cat5E are blue. I guess I'll use a cable tester once I'm done to see which is which. On the plus side, I'm starting to love tool-less keystone RJ45 jacks.

        I'm eating my words, two tickets came in last night, one for the above mentioned store.

        "Printer is out of toner". Well, then ORDER SOME! It isn't my job to get you toner, you have a process that you need to follow (and who is the moron accepting these tickets?).

        Yesterday, I also did some rounds and whenever I am in a store I make sure everything is working. Yep, everything is working and no tickets were logged in the past two weeks.

        This morning, I get a ticket, one of their printers isn't working - logged last Thursday (so now it's overdue). I can't ping it.

        OK we have some choices:
        1) It is off
        2) It is unplugged
        3) Someone unplugged the RJ-45 (network) cable from the printer
        4) Someone messed up the switch
