I guess this is a compliment...
I was talking with the assistant manager this morning when she came in at the end of my shift... she was talking about how she can't believe it's just over a month until her delivery date and how she didn't feel ready. I mentioned that she shouldn't feel bad because my mother had been trying for nearly a decade before I came along (up until her pregnancy with me the doctors thought she was infertile) and she still didn't feel ready when I finally came. The part that I think is a compliment was-
her- oh... only child?
me- yeah, only child.
her- oh, I honestly would not have guessed without you telling me... I always thought you came from a large family.
me- no, only child... why does this surprise people?
her- well, your not a whiney little brat with entitlement issues like most of the only children I met (as a side note I was thinking, Holy Crap, if she wasn't my manager I'd give her a card for this site after that line
)
me- could I get that in writing to send to my mother
so seriously... I know that was meant as a compliment but it seemed to come from right field.
