  • Ever just need a day off??

So monday I called into work.I just couldn't take it anymore. The last two weeks I have delt with nothing but morons and pricks. Shoving credit card two inches from my nose and completly trashing the store. Have you guys ever just needed a day off? The customers probadly would have not bother me so much had it not been from the stress in my private life.Like the hubby now needing to take insulin because his pills are not working anymore. And because of that money is kinda really tight.
Also because the hubby is scared of needles guess who has to give the shots?

You mean a "Personal Mental Health Day" - or as I phrase it to my boss "if I come in today don't be suprised if I bitch slap the first person to annoy me". Why, yes, yes I have. I need one after today as a matter of fact.
Sorry to hear about the switch to insulin - that sucks.

I use a pen for my insulin. Much easier then needles since it doesn't look like a needle. Have him ask if his insulin comes that way and see if that would work better for him then the needles.

Also when I asked I was able to get a coupon that saved me 40 dollars on the first one and the pen lasted me 30 days.

That sounds awful. Maybe the pen would work. *hopes* But that doesn't solve the money problem I hope the situation gets better.

Yes, I need one of those days every day! Especially this week: Yesterday the systems were going so slow that I could read an entire thread on here in the time it took to load one case for review (we're talking GK type threads), and then after a few hours of bitching about it to management, we finally get told that "they're looking into it". Then today I ended up having to do the yearly, mandatory, online corporate compliance training... and not just one or two of them, but FIVE of them!!! Oh what an absolute JOY that was!

... and people wonder why I have such a bad attitude...

I'm sorry to hear about the hubby, but I can't really blame him, I hate needles too. The main difference is the people I know would actually enjoy doing that to me...

Ugh... I feel for you. One place I worked had manditory compliance training. You had to take it every year, and the course content never changed one iota.

CandyShopGirl, I'm there. I'm totally there with you and was thinking that same thing tonight (unfortunately, after my supervisor had already left).

I hope things get better. Offers up a cuddly fuzzy warm purring sleeping kitten for a snuggle.

When my brother and I were working at hte same bookstore, he would take one every so often. Because we wer co-workers and siblings I had no problem covering for him, however some of our other co-workers questioned why he got so personal days.

My responsed was that he cleared it with me before clearing with the owner,(who was also the manager) and as long as their was a willing person to cover she had no isusse with personal days.

Thats the reason I rarely ever have much vacation time. As soon as I get 8 hours saved up, I take a Thursday night off. I get to the point where I need an extra day away from that place. If I have managed to get extra vacation time and I didn't get to request off, sometimes I will call in sick on a Tuesday or Wednesday night if the week has gone badly enough. But that rarely happens because I don't have the time to spare. Hence why I'm furious so often.

I remember when I was a trainer, I would only have my vacation time to 8 hours, then immediately use it the soonest Thursday night I could. So pretty much one Thursday a month or so, I'd get a 3 day weekend. I was beyond stressed with that job.

That's EXACTLY what these were! The only difference this time is that (thankfully) we were able to disable the cheezy videos and go with the text-only option. At least I got out of the queues for a little while. Of course, I think I'd prefer dealing with seller stupidity rather than corporate stupidity...

I try to take a day off or a weekend off every month or two.

If I don't take my vacation and personal time, I lose it at the end of January.

But of course, now when I could most use some vacation, I can't use any, because this is the busiest time of the year as far as freight goes.

I've done that myself. Let's just say I don't get migraines quite as often as I claim to.

Of course, sometimes that bites me in the ass, and I'll get one for real the next day.

                            I definitely understand.

I work about 30 hours a week or more, and go to school full-time. I'm graduating next month, and I get so much trouble at work from both customers and supervisors, I have called off more than once or twice in the past few months.

Between finding money to pay rent and bills, doing all my homework and assignments, trying to find a real job, and dealing with stuff at work, I want to pull my hair out.

                            God, my job sucks.

Sorry to hear about your situation as well.

Yes, I do it too! Usually at the end of the year when my time off is scarce. Sometimes you just have to...i'm actually going away this weekend, and i CAN'T wait. Some outlet shopping and just NOT having to deal with irritating customers!

I'm also off 2 days in Dec; the day before AND my birthday. VERY happy about that....probalby doing nothing, but that's ok. Ususally on my days off i run around trying to get stuff done, but these are MINE!
