Office space (no movie reference) is limited in my company, especially in my building.
Offices are generally reserved / allocated to directors and above, rarely does a manager get one (few exceptions include corp security, fraud, HR etc.).
To get a view of our structure (in the simplest way) it's:
Peon -> Lead -> Supervisor -> Manager -> Manager (2) -> Director -> VP etc..
Add a few steps here and there etc..
We have a team lead (note: LEAD) who is quite egotistical and expects everyone to drop everything for him.
We recently had someone leave an office and you guessed it, within a week he's fully moved into the new office, without authorization. I've even heard him bragging to people "they gave me an office".
Really now, so why didn't I get a ticket to move your phone# over to the office? Oh yeah, it's not authorized.
I can't wait for the day they assign it to someone and they confront him about it.
