  • You're not mine

Little bit of background, whenever my sister comes to visit she stops by my work with my niece and nephew. My nephew for some reason, only when I'm at work, loves to run up and attach himself to my leg. And so the story begins.

I'm stocking movies and I turn to my cart to grab some more when I feel a something wrap around my leg and squeeze. I turn back and start to greet my nephew as that's who I assume it is.

Me: "Well hello there Mich..."( I realize this is not my nephew)
Little kid looks up at me and realizes I'm not who he thought I was. He holds tighter.
Me:"Your not mine, what can I do for you little guy"
Little kid won't let go and I can't see a parent anywhere.
At this point I think I scared him cause he looked a little frightened but still wouldn't let go. I see a woman come around the corner obviously hunting for something. She spots me and smiles. I point at the kid and she nods . Problem being even when she comes up he won't let go. Its kinda awkward trying to pry a child off my leg and not hurt him. About a minute into trying to carefully remove him I guess he spots the person he was looking for, detaches himself from my leg and reattaches to another man about 10 ft away.

All in all it was a fun break from my day and the kid was cute.

I've never had that happen, but my Dad has had small kids grab his legs to see that he's not who they were looking for. He said the faces they make when they realize the mistake can be funny.

He once had a small kid keep hugging him in a hotel pool even though the kids parents were right there and kept telling him to stop.

    That was odd.

My sister was about 8 and I was about 10 and we were at Disney World in Florida. We were going through the Haunted Mansion and both of us were finding it scary. So I grab ahold of my dad and cling to him. My little sister buries her face into mom's side and reaches out to grab my dad. Exept... my dad and I were in front of them. Mom looks over and see this very startled Asian tourist looking at my sister like . Then she looks up, sees who it is and jumps. She detaches herself and clings to my mom. Mom looks at the guy and gives him an apologetic smile and he just smiles back.

Then there was the time I thought I saw a friend and went up to her to give her a big hug from behind to find out it wasn't her. Oops. Fortunately it was someone I knew so it was all good.

We were out shopping and there was a little 5 or 6 year old boy who kept creeping into the center of the clothes racks and hiding from his Mom. My brother and I were laughing a bit, because we used to do the same thing when we were that age.

His Mom looks up, tho, and she didn't see him. This look of sheer panic crosses her face, until I got her attention and pointed to the rack he was in. She could see his little feet then, and she laughed and thanked us.

My brother also had a little toddler girl come right up to him in a checkout line, and hug him. Her mom and grandmom were right there, but they scolded her for hugging a stranger. She was a cute little thing.

Once, my family and I were riding one of the trains, in JamesTown, Cali. A cute little girl came up to me and grabbed onto my leg and calling me daddy. I looked at her like WTF and told her that I am not her daddy. Her mom came and got her. And the little girls dad was sitting right there. We all had a good laugh about it.

This has not happened to me in a very long time, but twice, yes twice, when I was in my early 20's I had two different men come up behind me and lay a kiss on my neck. Once was in college while I was sitting in the student commons, studying, and the other was at the local mall, I was leaning against the ice skating rink, watching the skaters. Both times, when the guys realized that I was NOT who they thought I was, they turned beet red, and almost turned themselves inside out apologizing!

Later, I met the girl the first one thought I was. We both went to the same school. And I ended up dating the 2nd one for a bit!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

I've had that happen to me quite a few times. Apparently my lower legs look very mom like.

You just reminded me of this. I was walking down the sidewalk at a street sale with my GF (now wife) in front of me by a step. I had turned my head to look at a booth, and then stumbled over the curb a bit into my GF. I said "I'm sorry" and patted her on the butt, but the butt didn't feel as nice and firm as the butt I was accustomed to patting...

Just then a rather horrified woman looked at me and I realized my GF had gotten much further ahead of me than I had thought!

I aploligzed to the woman and ran up to my GF
