Oh, don't get me wrong, I like wikipedia, but I have found enough wrong info in entries to make me curse the policy of letting everyone and anyone edit articles.

Not trying to be rude, honest. I've just never seen a problem with Wikipedia, and I think it's an excellent idea.
It's really great if you want a quick lookup to see what year a particular spacecraft was launched or what order an author's books were published in, but tends to have a fair amount of bias on politically charged subjects.
To be honest, I tend to use it for anything where opinion doesn't factor in and "good enough" actually is.

Considering the source, I'd doubt the veracity. On the other hand, if it does turn out to be true, this has possibilities. After all, who says thieves are the only ones who can shoot Nerf darts at the ceiling? LP can too - remove the original darts, and shoot new ones - in the "hottest" spots that may look blind but are actually clearly visible to multiple security cameras.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.
Whatever the source and legitimacy of the whole thing, either corporate LP or our LP girl believes it enough that they have an "official" procedure we have to follow if we find one of those "markers" anyplace.
That's just what she told me, folks.
Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard. Be evil.

I can see it if they are leaving a marker for a second thief they are maybe working with, but random thieves?
Actually not that far fetched, i remember LP at the WalMart i worked at working to stop gangs of people coordinating by cell phone. This might be a variation, when a group comes in, they might attract attention to themselves, by marking good hunting territory, they can accomplish the same thing or more over time. Instead of a group coming in, say a half dozen people wander in at various random times, this makes it much, much harder for LP to catch them.
