  • They made me Purser

Now I didn't think that I wanted to come back and post on here but I thought I should post this to state to the people who told me to 'get out of customer service,' like they really cared.

I applied as a joke when I was sat around on standby bored out of my brain. Had in an interview in which they said how impressed they were were my InFlight Assessments and positive feedback and customer compliments.

So if I'm still working at the airline in a month I've been rostered a purser training course and then I can actually be the senior, in-charge flight attendant.

Interesting. Not that I really care but it does pay a bit more I suppose. Now on withj the job hunt!
    No longer a flight atttendant!

Excuse me, but I don't post things like that unless I mean it.
I'm sorry you felt that it wasn't genuine.

      Congratulations on the new job.

It's also great news that you have been getting such great evaluations and positive feedback from your passengers.

As I said before, it's obvious that you present a professional face to your customers, even if you secretly resent the heck out of having to serve them.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

Noo....I didn't mean any offence. I meant that some posters REALLY did seem to take extreme offence that I really should get a new job as if you really knew me as a real person rather than than on a message board, as I am ruining customer service standards and it was a really big deal

I'm sure that you are all great at your jobs and it's super that you take it seriously and take pride in your jobs. I obviously do not have the qualities required

Katie, I just remember when you did have a different job, and were so miserable there that you decided to go back to the airline position.

I would hesitate to say that the majority of workers actually love their job. But it's also rare that a person is GOOD at what they do. (We on this board, of course, are in the minority of being GOOD.)

You are obviously GOOD at what you do. You seem to like the travel aspect, and at least you are able to keep a professional front with the px. At least you do not have a bunch of regular SCs. Generally, once they leave your plane, you are done with them. Yes, you deal with hundreds of people every day, but I imagine the vast majority are not all that bad. And there are the few that really do appreciate you, and that's what keeps you going (that, and the paycheck).

As a teacher, I get the same thing every semester. I am GOOD at what I do. I don't necessarily like everybody in my classes, and some of them I downright detest, but I am able to be professional to all. Every once in a while, I get someone to whome I really make a difference, and that's what keeps me going (that, and the paycheck!).

If you truely believe you are in a bad situation, then yes, try to find something else. But I think that you really do take pride in your job, and pride in being GOOD at it!

            Hang in there!

Congrats on the promotion! Good to see not everyone has to be perfect to make it in this business.

I always thought the ability to take crap with a smile on your face was an outstanding quality for customer service.

Congrats on the promotion, your obviously doing something right!

Congratulations on the promotion. And remember 'Promoted to Purser' will look good on your cv.
