  • Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning!

Do any of you have to work the really early shift at your jobs? If so, is this a pain for you, or are you fine with it?
I work 10-6, which is fine with me. Well, I would prefer to come in a little later, if I could. But at least it's not 8-4!

I work from 7am-3pm. In order to be awake enough to drive, I have to be up at 6am.

Honestly, I'm fine with it because it frees up my afternoons and evenings so I can be with friends.

I work 11:30 am to 8:00 pm and I don't like it. I used to work 7-3:30 and I much preferred that shift. I got home early enough to get stuff done. Now, my free time is split in half.

I have had jobs that caused me to get up at 4 am and others that I didn't even go in till 2 pm or later.
Personally I like getting up and going and then having the rest of the afternoon to enjoy.
But, I set my scheule around the hours I work - so I shift everything accordingly.

Honestly from @ 2:30pm - 4:30pm I get sleepy -it doesn't matter how much sleep I get - that is just my sleepy zone.

Of course at the moment I will take any shift I can find.

I read a quote and now have it where I see it when I wake up " If Joan of Arc could change the tides of a war before her 18th birthday - you can get out of bed. E. JEan Carroll"

8:30 to 5, though I actually get there at 8:15. It's not so bad, since I live just a few minutes away. I can get up at 7:20 and have enough time for eggs and looking presentable.

I like having work first thing, since I don't spend all day dreading it. And I have until about Midnight do to what I want.

I'm unemployed right now (by choice) but when I did work at the restaurant my only opening shift was on Sunday. The restaurant opened at 7:00, so that meant I had to get up at 6:00. I hated getting up so early. But, I was able to leave between 2-3:00, and didn't have to stay for cleanup so then it was always worth it.

I work 11-close on Sundays. Last two Sundays in a row, close has been 11pm. completely kills the day [sigh]

Ideal shift for me is the traditional 9 -5 , that way I don't have to be up too early and don't get home too late. Too bad I haven't worked many jobs that offer that shift consistently.

Where I'm at now, my work week consists usually of 9-5:30, 1-9 PM or 11-7 midshifts.

I prefer second shift, but every once in a while first shift is a nice treat.

I prefer the early shift. I have a different schedule every other week.
                            Week one, M-F 7am - 4pm. - Sat. and Sun. off.
                            Week two, M-Th. - 6am - 5pm, w/ Friday - Sunday off.

I wake up around 3:30am every day, even on my days off. Just the way I am.

I used to LOVE my 5 am to 1 pm job. A full eight in before many people finish lunch. And the days went by very quickly as well.
