Just a quick update: had a meeting with Awesome Boss today, and she turned in my job description and list of responsibilities to the CEO. She said the CEO was impressed, and would probably be speaking to me about it soon. She also said I need to play dumb and act like she hasn't told me anything.

So.....here's hoping! Being salaried would be really really good at this point...
