A delivery truck for the store across the street pulled up, however, it was facing the wrong way. The driver decided to do a three point turn in order to position the truck right outside the store.

Manager and me are standing around having a chat, and we see the truck reversing towards our front windows.

Manager: That truck is getting a little too close for comfor...

SMASH!!

Yep! The truck went through a window! Luckily only one small pane of glass was smashed, and no one was sat next to the windows at the time. The driver was stunned and had to get on the phone to his supervisor, whilst we swept up the mess.

It happened really early in the day, so we were able to pull some strings and get it repaired pretty much right away. Expenses are being covered by the delivery company of course.

Manager and me actually found it funny, especially the irony of her last sentence. I sure hope the delivery guy doesn't get in too much trouble.

Unfortunately for him, there's a fair chance he'll get fired, many delivery companies (and taxi companies) have a no U turns policy. You can always go around the block, or pull into a parking lot rather than do a U-turn or in this case, a K-turn, and that doesn't take into account a failure to know where his truck is (another violation at most companies). Heck, that was the policy at the taxi company i worked for, and obviously a taxi is a much smaller vehicle.

We get semi trucks hitting things in our parking lots all the time. Running over the islands and leaving tracks in the grass, shearing branches off our trees, running-over our stop signs... Of course we find it later, they never admit to it. Granted I think most Drivers know how to maneuver their trucks, but we must get the only ones who don't!
