I feel sorry for anyone who's going to have to deal with this crap. Because we all know who's going to be taking the blame and the heat once the PS3 and Wii sells out.

I wonder if any of these lineup-lemmings have stopped to consider if there's any actual good games being released for the ps3's launch? I've looked, and nothing's caught my eye.
My ps2 recently broke down, just in time for the release of final fantasy xii (
). I considered getting a ps3, but who wants to be camped out for days waiting? If the hydrogen fuel-cell car was being released I *might* consider doing the camping lineup act...
So I bought a new ps2, one of the tiny silver models. Not bothering with ps3 until the next final fantasy or resident evil gets released. But just to amuse myself, I asked the EBGames guy "I know you're sick to death of hearing this, but you know when you'll be getting any ps3's?" (Insert knowing grin
)

I love video games and I do want to get a PS3, but in time. Honestly, anyone who gets a PS3 now, they're not thinking straight. I understand the excitement, but let's look at Sony's track record.
1) they claim they will have x units to sell and usually fall very short of the said amount.
2) the first shipment of their new systems is ALWAYS flawed.
Case in point, this morning on the news, they said how the PS3 actually could not play every ps/ps2 game and that sony would be offering downloads to remedy the problem for most, but not all of the unsupported games. all those people in line that haven't heard that, might find themselves quite disappointed when they can't play certain games that they wanted to from the previous systems.
I'm sticking with Nintendo this time around. It's only 250, whereas Sony took the Microsoft route and made their console a ridiculous price. No thanks, because you know in a year, that price will go down drastically.

Even if I wanted one, I wouldn't want it bad enough to do all that.Quoth ExHDCashier View Postwhile out doing my grocery shopping, i happened to drive past a Best Buy and there were tons of ppl lined up already!!.. and according to the news website, ppl have been lining up at other Best Buys since Monday!!

I actually lost interest in gaming systems after the SNES. I got tired of buying a system, and then seeing them release something new, and not making any more games for the system I had. Worse yet, the new systems were never backward-compatible with the old games.
I do all my gaming on my computer now. I can upgrade it, and in most cases, I can still play my old games on it. I even recently found out how to get most of my old DOS-based FPS games to work under XP.Sometimes life is altered.

I never could the "must-have-it-now" stuff either. Yeah sure, a new toy is nice, but I'm not willing to camp out or pay up for it. Prices *will* come down on things, especially electronic items.
I do know people who will do that though. Several model railroaders I know just *had* to have one of the new Bowser N8 cabooses in Penn Central colors...and paid list price for them. Granted, that kit is freaking awesome--separate handrails for the sides, and other neat stuff. However, since I already had an N5C caboose in the works, plus all the other "unopened" toys, I passed on the N8.
Heh, but imagine my surprise when I found one in Strasburg, PA, back in September....for much less than its original cost. We're talking 50% off here
I didn't pass on that one, and the wait was totally worth it
Why was it so cheap? Well, the Penn Central has always been seen as the "bastard child" of railroading...especially by the diehard Pennsylvania RR fans. Since Strasburg is home to a major railroad museum, and in the middle of PRR country...PC stuff is usually pretty cheap in the shops--the stuff sits around and gets marked down because nobody wants it.Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari

My husband and I went to Circuit City tonight and there was a line of people camping right next to the door, so they would be first in line for the PS3.Do not annoy the woman with the flamethrower!

I just got back from our local Evil Empire branch, aka Wal-Mart. Already had 20 people in line next to Layaway for the ~10 systems that would go on sale Friday. Most of them had enough oil on their faces to start a fast food chain and a few of them had hooked up a PS2 to one of the display TVs.
Why on earth they're actually allowed to camp in the electronics section is anyone's guess. If it were me, I'd be in sporting goods

I'm not sure who baffles me more... the people waiting in line for days or the people who'll be paying the big bucks on ebay.
Speaking of price, here's a random fun fact: in 1981, the Mattel Intellivsion game system was $300. According to measuringworth.com, spending $300 back then was the equivalent of spending $644.34 today. I don't know how many PS3s we're getting. But, we're only getting 6, that's right, 6 Wii systems! At least, since they're coming out on Sunday, I don't have to see any bloodshed over them. I don't work on Sunday's!
I just don't get the whole thing. Let me put it this way, the last game system I played on was an Atari 2600!
How's that an oxymoron? Judging by how many chickens and cute little yappy dogs they snatch out of yards around here, it's more redundant! Actually saw one loping down the sidewalk in the city the other night!Quoth Kogarashi View Post(where we have aggressive coyotes -- I know, oxymoron, right?).
