  • Sex offenders are running rampant in my store

Hello people, it's been awhile, i've moved house and have had nothing but trouble with the phone company getting phone and internet connected but that's another story

Anyway, about a month ago a lady shopping at my store made a complaint about a man that was following her child around the store, the police were called and security tapes were viewed, but not a good shot.

It happened again yesterday, this time the guy actually tried to take a little 4 year old boy out of the store, but the kid yelled for his parents who weren't far away, apparently the boy was lagging behind his mum and dad while they were shopping.

This time we got an excellent shot oh the offender and hope we catch the son of a bitch.

Oh but get this, this took place at 4.40 pm and the parents didn't report it to the us or the police until 6pm , talk about priorities.

This is a lesson to never let your child out of your sight and I understand it can be hard with little ones who love to run around and you only need to be distracted for a split second and there off, I have 3 trust me I know how fast they are.

I'll let you know how it all turns out

Holy cow! He's trying to snatch kids in the middle of a busy store???

Luckily in my store we usually just find kids wandering around with no parents in sight. Not too much better, but at least we're the employees and not creepy sex offenders. I know its a toy store people, but its still not okay to let your kids wander away. Just buy one of those baby leashes if you have to.

I swear i've seen people get more panicked when they realize they're missing their credit card than when they're missing their child!

My last mall we got a LOT of kids getting reported missing. Strangely, the kids seemed to realize way before the parents and would go to a desk and say 'my parents are missing.' Sadly, it was at least 20minutes and several pages before the parent's responded. Once, the kid was found waiting outside at the car, cause when he got lost he realized his parents would have to go back to the car sometime.

One time we couldn't find the kid within the acceptable time and so called the police. It just so happened that as they were driving to the mall, they passed a kid on the sidewalk...

Yep. He had gotten bored and decided to walk home. Like 7YO.

It's just sad, people really just do not pay attention to their kids. And at my current work kids under the age of 12 seem to get dropped-off all the time. I dread summer, and we do have our share of creeps.

This happens all the damn time! People moan like buggery at the Police "Why aren't you doing anything about xxxxxxxxxxx?" when they only tell the Police 4 hours after the event!

I teach the kids in my class that the first part of good self defense is letting someone know where they are. Always. Even if they just go to their friend's house next door. And to scream like that good little 4 year old if anyone tries to grab onto them.

Anyone who would hurt a kid just sucks... I hope they catch that jerk from the store video shots.

Reminds me of a story I heard. A mom took her kid to the doctor, and the doctor instructed the child to disrobe. Child states "I'm going to tell an adult." Mother assures child that it's okay, since the man is a doctor and Mommy's here, but any other time he did just the right thing.

Good kid. I would rather have my child do something like that. At least they would know, but then they would learn that it's ok when they are in the doctor's office.

Kids get confused in the mall, and the parents don't know how confused.

We had a little tyke on the shoulders of Dave the security guy, looking for his mom.

Tyke was asked over and over if he'd gone out of the store at any point, and he always answered "no."

It had been a while, Dave was still looking for little Tyke's Mom, we're all wondering how Mom can be so clueless as to not realize her kid's been with us for forty minutes.

Uhm, cause Mom lost him at the anchor store at the other end of the mall.

Tyke reasoned if it was all under the same roof, he hadn't left the "store."

                    Mom was pretty frantic.

There's about 4 registered sex offenders living in one apartment house down the street from me.

Two of them are considered enough of a threat that the local cable access channel has shown their pictures and their addresses.

                      That's pretty depressing.

I live across the street from a park.

There's a few sex offenders living around here.

Guess I'm not taking the nieces and nephews to the park much anymore. (Those children move faster than me.)
