I bought a top the other day and it unraveled right away, so I took it in today to exchange for same item. I gave the lady my receipt & it wasn't on there, so she did the exchange anyway. I was on my way home puzzling over it; I was SURE that was the receipt since I recognized another item I'd bought at the same time. So I just checked and I have no other receipts for the origional top. I'm 99% sure I didn't get charged, and now I have "stolen" merchandise. hee! Anyway, is there ANY chance if I explain, the cashier will get in trouble for not scanning an item? If so, I'll take the new one back sans receipt (sans cashier's name.) Thanks, everyone.

I wouldn't consider it sucky to keep it (and maybe privately let the cashier know what happened) but it wouldn't be out of line either to bring it back and say that it's not there on your receipt and that there was a mistake made and that you'd be willing to come forward and correct it. if it's all the same cashier, you could probably take care of it without management ever having to find out...just re-scan and re-'buy' the item.

I don't remember who she was. It sounds like you suspect there's a remote chance she'll get in trouble, so I will just take the top in and explain without the receipt. And I can honestly say I don't remember which cashier. Thanks."Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably
