Officially Weird

Today we had one of those office parties to make everyone bond and whatnot. Games like Match the Baby Picture and Who's Had Malaria, etc.

We also got awards. Round the neck medals with some funny thing on it. "LArgest...monitor", "Most Wrecked Company Cars", "Most Family Visits".

I got "Weirdest Story Teller".

Because they thought I'd be offended by "Weirdest Person Ever".

I corrected this mistake and informed them to use "OMG SHE'S SUCH A FREAK!" next time.

Seriously, people really misunderstand geeks: we take weirdness as a compliment! We get into arguments over who is weirder!

Exactly! I TOLD them I loved my medal, but that it should have been "Weirdest Ever".

And that I've won that honor before. Forum award ceremonies. They're fun. ^^

I don't think I even KNOW any normal people at ALL, much less have seen such a creature on these forums. Really, who would that one be? Gravekeeper? VRS? Khiras? *Raps*?

...In college, the folks in my dorm nominated me "Most Likely to Wind Up on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted"

(At this point I'm probably on a few watch lists, but not for anything exciting. So I'm not sure if that nomination was close or really far from the mark)

The closest I have been to Normal was the fours years four years I attended Illinois State.

I fence and cut cakes when we have birthday parties. And... tend to get a little stabby when someone goes near my slice.

Frankly, if we had anyone here that could be in the running for that award, I'd think it'd be Irv.

Ummm...why would you name 4 of the most abnormal people on this board for that honour? (No offense, guys...I'm just saying... )

We have tons of members who come off as much more "normal" than they do.

The only issue I have with awards like that is that some people tend to be forgotten and they end up coming off as a bit "cliquish".

As the post I quoted proves, the more prolific posters and the better storytellers are more easily remembered, but the average Joe members who also keep the place running with posts about common, everyday issues get lost in the all the banner waving over the "favourites".
