So I've started a new job, but I'm still finishing up the current schedule at my old one. Its a good time - I don't care anymore, so I spend most of my shifts goofing off. And there's the added bonus of seeing applicants come in with their resumes to fill my soon-to-be vacated position.
You can either apply for this job in person with a hard copy of your resume, or you can apply online on our website. This one woman comes in last week and tosses her resume on the counter and says "I TRIED to apply online, but your website is impossible! There is NO LINK to apply! You shouldn't say you can apply online on your sign if you can't!" This confused me, so I swung our store's computer monitor around to face her, and popped onto the website. I easily followed the extremely obvious links to the application page. This just pissed her off. "Well its not very well marked is it?" I replied that I thought it WAS easy to navigate, and that even if weren't so blatantly obvious, this is a position that requires attention to detail, and maybe she shouldn't mention her difficulty in following simple instructions to the manager if she's called in for an interview.
But of course, she WON'T be called, because I tossed her resume in the trash. Who would be dumb enough to yell at the person with the power to submit your resume or toss it? Besides, my manager ALWAYS asks me what the applicant was like when someone drops off a resume in person. Between her short fuse and obvious mental limitations, this woman was definitely not going to get my endorsement.
And you just KNOW she's a sucky customer too.
