  • sense of entitlement vs. common sense

After viewing this forum for so long, I can say with confidence that most of our customer service woes stem from either the SCs sense of entitlement or lack of common sense or some combination of both. SCs, although major PITA's, probably do possess some decent level of common sense, however, it seems to me that when the sense of entitlement is greater, and the SC feels that they DESERVE something, common sense flies out the window.

I don't know. Just something I was thinking about this morning.

I'll agree with that, in fact, I think all SC's stem from entitlement, because those who simply lack common sense will be apologetic and greatful when you as the employee steer them back on track, no matter how badly off the rails they were.

Etitlement does cause common sense to go out the window because the SC thinks that they are the most important thing in the world, have an inflated view if thier importance and as such never stop to think about just how ludicrous or inappropriate thier behaivor is going to seem to others, they WANT it so they DESERVE it, end of story.

Now, what causes that entitlement, that's a whole nother' can of worms.

Oh, don't forget the lack of will/abillity to back up the entitlement. I'm pretty sure a person that leaves choke-a-horse tips, shoping for items that'll get you a massive comission, etc, is going to get to be a whole lot more demanding before they become sucky than the cutsey idiot that leaves $.02 or the wannabe shiek trying to bargain over a discount sofa.

Actually, I've noticed it to be the other way around from my observations (my store doesn't tend to get customers in either extreme).
