Dude wants Thingamabob set up on Security System at his site. Coworker Bob notices that Thingamabob is 1) not something that Security handles, so it shouldn't be on Security System and 2) not something that should be trusted to Security System at this site, as Security System has proven to be unstable and Thingamabob is pretty important.

Coworker Bob calls Security Manager who tells us not to set up Thingamabob. Security Manager tells site security to tell Dude that Security will not take responsibility for Thingamabob. (Really? You can't talk to Dude yourself??)

Dude calls me, expecting to test Thingamabob. I tell him that it is set up in the system but will not be activated because Security Manager said no and we have to listen to him. Dude mentions that he knows Security Manager isn't happy but they've been planning this site for 3 years and this is just a finishing touch and Thingamabob needs to be in place for this weekend. I told him we HAVE to obey Security Manager's wishes over Dude's, since Dude is not part of security and I'm not losing my job over a damn Thingamabob. Dude gets whiny, then pissy, then hangs up.

Seriously? If Dude and Security Manager can't work things out, I'm not getting involved. You're both adults, try acting like it.

Ug, I hate this kiddie crap. My job has a central office and several remote offices all over the city and surrounding area. One of the office managers has decided they don't like my boss, so will only call or email me directly instead of using the help desk group email. The problem this week is I just got back from vacation, and remote manager had contacted me on an issue the day I left.

He spent all week with an issue that could have been handled in about a half hour by my boss. Nothing like someone who will shoot themselves in the foot out of pride.
