  • I am SO tired of this crap!!

I'm tired of working for a company that doesn't give a damn about payroll and could apparently care less if our manager works 60 hour weeks (she's salaried) to cover the difference.

I'm tired of the stupid corporate BS that has caused a very good manager, my manager, to be dicked around about a promotion for years and has driven her to want to jump ship. (Of course the company says they LOVE to hire from within!

I'm tired of getting money deducted from my already low paycheck for practically useless health insurance.

I'm tired of seeing my wife in pain due to said crappy health insurance (she has a condition and she could get surgery but the stupid insurance will only cover a fraction of the over $10 000+ the procedure would cost.

I'm tired of seeing myself and my coworkers treated like crap by our company and then being the first ones in front of the firing squad when sales goals aren't hit and our customer service scores aren't good.

I'm tired of working my butt off day in and day out to come home with so little, both in terms of money and respect at the very end.

I'm tired of being regarded simply as a number on a spreadsheet or a name in a file folder, I'm a human being dammit and I have bills to pay too.

I'm tired of seeing good people (not just at my company but others) walked all over, treated like dirt and EXTREMELY undervalued by management and supervisors who seem completely detached from reality.

I'm tired of the impersonal, inhuman thing that big business has become. As long profits are being made, who cares that backs are being broken, homes are being seized and lives and livelihoods are being ruined??

I'm tired of the selfishness I see from both some employees and customers so often. "It's not about what I can do for anyone else, it's all about what I can get for myself. To hell with everyone else it's all about Me, me, me, me!"

I'm tired of living in a climate where rules and policies are apparently meaningless, and actually FOLLOWING them and acting ethically will in fact cause you to fall BEHIND everyone else who is bending, breaking and shredding them at will to get ahead.

I'm tired of living in a world where personal integrity doesn't matter if the number of zeroes on the check is high enough and anyone can be bought or sold.

Most of all, I'm tired of living in a world where people have apparently forgotten how to care about each other.

I can totally relate to all of this. I know for a fact that I'm permanently damaged from too many years of all this cutthroat shit. I need to get back to work, but even if I could get another job, I'm not sure I'm even functional anymore. I've been doing research to try to find out what's wrong with me, and was surprised to find that I have almost all of the symptoms of job burnout, a condition I've only heard about in recent months. I hope you haven't reached that point, and that you can find a way out before it ever gets this bad. If you can start your own business, maybe; anything that gets you away from this sick corporate culture.

Regarding the insurance thing, what are the job prospects in your area? Is there any governmental bodies doing hiring? Even if it's a low-level position, once you pass the trial perios, you should get some excellent (and hopefully lower-cost) insurance. How hard it is to get a job depends on your location, though.

Any larger (and non-retail) companies in your area? In my experience, fast food and retail generally do not offer very good insurance, which is why I ask what else is out there.

      Good luck!

I am not a U.S. citizen (I'm a permanent resident) so Government work is out of the question, at least for a few years.

I live in one of the Gulf coast states on the coast. So we've been hit hard by the oil spill and that's sucked a lot of jobs out of the economy. There are government jobs but like I said above, it's impossible for me to work for them right now.

I sympathise, having worked for (what is probably the same company as CC2), albeit several years ago. I still have friends who suffer under that yoke.

From the years i spent there, I can verify that he is NOT exaggerating, either.

Oh God I hate it when people say that! Or "In this economy, there are plenty of people without jobs, so you should be grateful you have one!"

So because the economy is shit, we should be treated like shit and be thankful for it? I now truely believe that employers are forcing all kinds of new ridiculous policies on their workers because they know that it is unlikely that they will leave.

                  How old are you?

Not to fratch, but to be perfectly blunt, if you are within the age range, in good health and possess a green card you can join the american military. Pay, housing, medical care ... and unless you seriously fuck up, you cant be fired, and if you can follow orders [which obviously you manage to do so to keep employed as a civilian] life can be pretty comfortable. Milmed doesnt give a rats ass about pre-exisiting conditions and the military can perforn pretty complex operations 'in house' or off base in a civilian hospital for a fairly decent co-pay. My davinci hysterectomy cost me all of $250US last august.
