  • Bad Dreams About Work

Have you ever had a nightmare about your work?

I think this one was bought on by boyfriend having almost assaulted a customer of his, and me being worried he would lose his job over it.

I didn't realise this was a dream at first, i really thought I was at work.Everything was so ..........real............my desk, the phone, the computer system, my coworkers were there.

I was arguing with a customer, I lost my temper and started really screaming, wild, swearing, etc.

I put the phone on mute and I remember I was just thinking............now I will lose my job...............i felt sick..............i just looked at the red mute button............and started to cry..........

    And then I woke up.

    Nightmare.
Customer "why did you answer the phone if you can't help me?"

I have a recurring nightmare about work. I'm on my paper route, and I have no idea which houses I'm supposed to deliver to, so I just start guessing and delivering to random houses and hope I get it right. Then I wake up.

I've talked about this before both on here and Fratch, but I constantly dream of work. It's a typical sign you are over-worked and over-stressed.

I worked in several casinos over 10 years ago, and when I dream, I always dream about them.

Usually it is because I am late for work and I cannot find something important for my uniform. Nametag, bow tie, vest, something else. It feels like I am running but not going anywhere. Then I will go to the job and there will be nothing for me to do. Sometimes people I know who are not in the business will be in the dream (since I remember almost no one from my casino days.)

I did a lot of hard drugs back them too, the 1990's were not my time. A lot of my nightmares comes from this period. Working all night in a casino, looking for crack, in a rehab, or sitting in jail. Scary. Then I wake up.

One time I was crashing at my best friend's place. I'm told I was talking in my sleep and doing the script from work. Pad was of the impression that if it had been for real, the Quality Department would have thought it a perfect call.

Many, many times over the years I have. It usually involves me having to deal with outrageous situations by myself, while others bitch about them. Then, I wake up screaming.

I honestly don't have bad dreams about work too often, but when I do, it usually involves getting into a nasty arguement with a boss or co-worker, and it's always someone whom (in "real life", anyhow) I have no personal problems with at all.

Haven't had bad dreams about work per se, but ever since starting my current job my dreams have all had the theme of being trapped...

I just put up a thread about this - I was having crazy dreams about carrying around a caulking gun and caulking every crack in sight after spending a week doing nothing but caulking at my current job. I wouldn't call it a bad dream but its definitely strange.

Interestingly enough, for the past two nights, I've had dreams of my now-former workplace (not really long story, but a bit odd). In each, I'm showing up late and in the wrong uniform for the department in which I'm assigned. I don't like being late — at all — and often panic when I am running late. These dreams? Yeah. Panicky. Odd thing? I don't work there any longer. I've been waking up feeling disoriented because I don't have to go to work.

Not a nightmare, but I've had a different type of bad dream about a coworker/friend. This would NEVER happen in real life but I had a dream we did the nasty in the fish freezer. Woke up thinking I needed to switch departments.

I must be weird, because, well, I dream, but it's never coherent. Sometimes coworkers or my bosses appear in my dreams, but never, ever, has a recognizable work environment actually materialized. Scarily enough, that doesn't mean I haven't had dreams about work. Dreams about work where the building by all means should be completely alien to me as it bares no resemblance whatsoever to the real building, yet somehow I'm intimately familiar with it. These usually devolve into nightmares, but at that point, the distorted workplace has been all but forgotten.

                          Yeah, I'm pretty messed up.

Not about the job I am currently in, but when I worked at Wally World? Yeah..nightmares abounded. Sadly, most of them were not as bad as the Reality of working in Wally World.

Worst nightmare I had about Wally World (don't worry not graphic or anything).

I had just made supervisor. I don't think Harry Potter had even been created yet, but I had a dream that a new uber popular children's book had just been released. When I got to work, the place was packed with children (didn't see a single parent anywhere). Pretty much wall to wall. Every cashier had called off 'sick', and since no truck that meant not many people on stock either. So there I was, pretty much single handed with all these children wanting this book.

The dream ended after the first child come up to pay for the book with pennies they had saved up. I woke in a cold sweat.

I used to dream about my last employer pretty often, especially right after I quit the job. Nightmares...I dunno...I thought they were nightmares, but not really of the "this is really scary" type, just that I disliked that place when I quit and I don't like dreaming about it. Even a year after I quit the job I was still having dreams about it. I'd wake up freaked out and panicked, thinking I was late for work (my schedule was always F'ed up so every day I had to set my alarm clock to different times and I would frequently wake up thinking I was going to be late and then realize I had anywhere from 2-8 hours before I actually had to be there...or that it was my day off and I didn't have to go in at all!) I haven't had one of those dreams in a while, but watch...I'll have one tonight since now I've been thinking about it.
