  • This is Going to be Fun...

The cellular company we sell for and have a service center for has implimented a new policy. It is related to a new law stating that no cellular company can sell or maintain a non-GPS capable phone on their network. The deadline has come, so now we can no longer get ANY parts for the old phones, and if we have a part and do a repair, we DO NOT get paid on it. (We used to get reimbursed for the cost of the part, and get a small comission.) This is an issue because there are still a LOT of customers with older phones, and quite a few of them have the service and repair plan. They pay $3 a month so if their phone breaks, they can come to the service center and have it fixed for no cost at the time of repair. Now we have to charge even them.

Is the cellular company notifying these customers? Nope. They will just keep paying the $3 until they find out, apparently.

I will surely have many, many stories of raging, angry, screaming customers. What a joy this will be. Although really, this isn't anyone's fault but the company's. To me, the customer would be justified to be pissed off. I just hope they don't throw anything or try to injure us or my nice clean store.
I may be free from retail, but the nightmares still linger.....

What's this all about now? Our Sprint/Nextel, and Cingular Reps haven't informed us of any new law or anything like that at all. This would be useful if you could get me some info on it, please. KTHNKSBYE.

Check your PM's, I typed what I know. I think we got a memo about waaaaaaaaaay back when about a year and a half ago, but I have no idea where it went.

We found out we can do exchanges, which means we send off for a replacement. That is ALL we can do. Now, this would be fine, as they overnight things. BUT their warehouse is dangerously low on stock of these old phones. So that might work, but not for long. Once they are out, we're gonna have some fun days I think.

And we STILL have to charge the customer the swap fee I think, even if they are a service plan customer. Yippee.

I doubt it. The contract will have a clause in to say that they are able to change the terms at any time. It's also very likely to be a civil case, so someone would have to sue - ergo class action suit most likely.

get the company's HO number and distribute it. Why should you have to deal with it?
