  • Inventory.

    Bleh.

I'm about a quarter of the way through the full inventory I should have done two months ago.

So far I've found four major discrepancies and a whole lot of little ones.

Finding the source is going to be....fun. Because if I'm correct, it's my fault. I have a feeling I received a couple of merch transfers as going the wrong direction (supposed to be from A to B, received as B to A).

I also have to go through and deactivate or remove a bunch of items that aren't in stock and are causing problems with stock numbers, because the ID's are very similar to in-stock items.

Can I just fast-forward about six hours?

Well, the first part is done.

10 case variance. 120 bottles. Definitely a paperwork error. Now I get to go through all the transfer reports for the last six months and find out where I messed up.

The error hasn't actually been found yet. But I know it exists, and where it likely is, which is a lot more than I knew last week!

            Inventory. Yay.

My Boss can't figure out why I'm Obsessive about the inventory numbers. He claims that his inventory numbers are PERFECT.

If they're so perfect then why are we missing 105 cans of dogfood, 11 GIANT bottles of detergent, and 7 of the really big bags of dogfood, hmm?

Hmmm, how many cans to a case? I'm guessing 15...

24 for the single cases, 48 for the double-stacked ones. I haven't even checked the numbers for the catfood (which I sell about 3X the amount of).

And the count on the bagged dogfood's gone up to 9 now.

I don't actually eat on the job. I keep a bottle of Atkins shake or some cashews on me but since I'm not allowed to clock out I don't tend to stop for lunchtimes (this strikes me as bad illegal somehow. They already extended our Sunday hours to regular business hours).

Besides, while I have eaten dogfood before (...I was FIVE!) I wouldn't touch the canine junkfood we sell. Yuck.
