  • What's in Minneapolis?

Well, on the very remote chance that i get the position i applied for, me.

I haven't talked much about what i do, heck, i don't think i've updated it since i worked for RGIS, but these days i deliver magazines from Black Canyon City to Tucson, AZ. One of the publishers i work for is looking for a district manager in Minneapolis, and my district manager, and his boss (dunno what his title is) want me to get it. I don't meet the qualifications, but my DM's been helping me with my resume to make sure the odds are in my favor.

Wish me luck all... Oh, and ifn we've anyone in that part of the world, anything you can tell me about it?

    Good luck!

I don't live out there, but my favorite radio station's out of Minneapolis. From what I've heard on there, I know they've got a very very good local music scene for you to look forward to.

Good food, good shopping, good social scene.

But, in certain areas, lots of crime and lots of violence. Beware.

really good integrated bike lanes-they have a bicycle "expressway". They also have pretty decent mass transit.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Chuckles, "I'm not sure anything can be worse than Asbury Park where i lived before coming out to Phoenix. I lived in the third floor of a house that'd been converted into apartments, the house next door was boarded up, and one block down, an entire side of the street was boarded up. Up at Main St, the pizza place i used to hit for burgers was ordered by police to shorten their hours, as cops were tired of sitting there all night doing drug busts (as well as pizza, burgers and the like, they also sold single cigarettes and cigars). I delivered pizza in that town and refused to go unarmed, although a tire iron isn't much of a weapon there."

Rush hour traffic is awful in the Twin Cities metro, but it's awful in pretty much every big metro. Minnesota elects crazy politicians (Governor Turnbuckle, Senator Comedian). If the pay is good, and you can find a decent place to live in the area, then I say, move on up.

Well, right now i'm an independent contractor with them, this would move me up to employee at mid to high 40s, benefits and company cargo van. Negative is a lot of travel into the surrounding states, prolly around a week's worth minimum per month.

You can also get them at an A&W fast food joint, if you have any in your area. I have one a block over, and its always a good reason to take a walk.

Thanks. Funny thing is that worst case scenario, i continue on the current path, IC for them, one of their IDs (independent distributor), another paper, and a marketing company, while turning my van into a rolling billboard, starting my own distribution company, my own magazine, and possibly becoming an ID for one of their books. Not all at once mind you, but that's the current path. If a DM position opens during that time, i'd be better qualified, and could simply sell the distribution business and books. Gotta admit, when the worst case scenario looks like that, its all good.

Not at the one around here. They don't have any of the really good Midwestern-style A&W food. Just some basic burgers and fries.

And blas, I hate you now. :P
