I have been unemployed since November of last year. I've been putting in applications everywhere and working with the Employment Security Commission- which is a huge joke, at least the office I'm having to go to, but that is another story. I applied for a job as a site manager (no experience necessary), at a nearby apartment complex on Sunday. I got a call on Tuesday for an interview the next day at the apartment complex's office at 1:00 PM.

I arrive at five minutes until one. The office is locked, so I stand around and wait... and wait... and wait... Fifteen minutes later, the current site manager walked up and unlocked the door. I introduced myself and told her I was there for an interview that was supposed to start at one. She said she was the site manager, not the one doing the hiring and that she didn't know where that woman was. She said I could come in and wait in the office. She told me a little bit about the complex- the site manager has to live on-site in a 3 bedroom unit and no pets are allowed. No problem, Mom lives less than a mile from the complex, I can go over to take care of the pets when needed.

Finally at 1:35 the woman that was supposed to interview me showed up. Upon seeing me, she said "Oh, you're my one o'clock appointment. Come on then." She didn't say she was sorry for being late, nor did she call to let the site manager know she was running late. We went into the sitting room and she asked me a few questions. Ones like 'It is the maitance man's job to pick up the trash. You are walking around the complex and see trash on the ground, what do you do?' or 'There is someone just standing in your office. You need to get your work done. What do you do?'

After she asked the questions, she said, "I'll call you if I want you to come back for another interview," and then showed me the door. I had a few questions, but she wouldn't let me ask them, saying she'd call me. I don't think I will get the job.

I don't think she was very professional.

I fully appreciate you need a job, but I doubt this is a place you'd want to work for anyway. Geez that was a bad interview. I wish you the best in getting some other better interviews and finding a job soon.

sounds like she already has someone she plans to hire, but she has to go through the pretense of interviewing people. She probably figured you would leave before she got there.

This. That or she doesn't feel like they need another site manager.. but for whatever reason it certainly sounds like she's going through the motions but doesn't really want to hire anyone..
