  • AAARRGGGHH! Another shitty night!

Through the entire month of January, we're going to be down to about one truck per week. Thing is, the DC fills the trucks with about two truck's worth of freight, and we had only 4 people to do a 1700-piece truck tonight (somebody called out sick on thrid shift). Sorry, ain't happening!

And to complicate things even more, the truck unloaders, who are basically 16th-year kindergartners who cannot tell the simplest of colors and shapes from their own floppy bits, did an unbelievably shitty job of unloading. They didn't sort anything off the truck. EVERY SINGLE FREAKING pallet back in receiving was a hodgepodge of various departments thrown together. We had one pallet of home decor, hardware, electronics, health and beauty and candy all together. We had to go and sort through EVERYTHING before we could even think about stocking anything.

The two unloaders who are good at their jobs stayed late to unload all the bulk pallets, but basically said "piss it" without unloading anything, because they had to help us sort everything and get it to the floor. They told us the other unloaders screwed off all night, getting drinks of water and taking bathroom breaks, going up into the truck to see how far we were, and complaining. "Waaaah, why aren't we done?! We want to go on break!"

Poor babies. They work a whopping 3 hours a night. Plus they've got pretty good job security because the manager will not fire them despite whatever threats she may make to them. Generally, after she gives them the "come to Jesus" talk to fire them up, they'll do a decent job for a while and slide right back into sucking after a while.

Things will only get more interesting when we come off of overnights, and start working at 4:30 in the morning, but that's a subject for another thread.

I hope the sledgehammer of justice falls upon their big toes, and soon.

Was the candy on the bottom of the pallet(s)?

Urrgh, I remember those days of unloading trucks back in retail hell. It was the other associates' jobs to get the freight out once we unloaded it, but they would complain that WE weren't doing anything; even though they would just be standing talking to each other whenever these individuals were supposed to be covering their departments. Ahhh, co-irkers.

Yes, and in the middle....and on top. They literally just threw everything wherever.

Ahhh the fond memories of Unloading Hell. They would always send us pallets with the heavy stuff on Top.

It's nice to know that they've maintained their standards of craptacular loading.
