First Day at the new job

I started my new job on Friday. School doesn't start back until Monday, but all the staff were in getting everything prepared for the kids returning. I didn't do much on my first day, I was basically shown around my new department by a member of staff who is going to shadow me during my first few weeks.

It was great though. I have never felt so welcomed in a job. Everyone was so polite! It's something I am not really accustomed to. However, all the way through the day, the lady I was working with (who I will call Linda) kept saying "You look really familiar." I kept assuring her it was probably because I was volunterring at the school last year, but she said it wasn't from school.

Towards the end of the day, she turned to me.

Linda: I know now! You used to work at *pub*!
Me: Yes, unfortunately.
Linda: So you know *ex-co-worker*! And *ex-co-worker2*!
Me: Yes I do.
Linda: So why did you leave?
Me: Very long story.
Linda: Say no more. I used to work in *rival pub*. Working in a pub is one of the most stressful jobs ever, I couldn't wait to leave when I got this job.

When I got home I looked her up on facebook. We have nineteen mutual friends. Most of them ex-co-workers.
