I really like my job. For the work I do, I get paid really well. My managers loves me, I LOVE my coworkers. It's a fun atmosphere, I typically have a blast. I have very little to complain about, really.
I'm hourly plus commission. The tool pros are strictly hourly...
Well, everything changes Feb 11th.
I currently am paid $4.50 an hour plus commission. I work typically in Lawn and Garden and sporting goods, but I also take a stroll into tools when my department is slow, and ring stuff up in there as well. I get paid on just about everything I sell, so I might as well. I get paid up to 4% on everything (actually varies between .5% and 4%).
They're changing that. I'll be getting paid $6.00 an hour, and up to 2% on everything I sell. Now, THAT in itself is pretty horrible. Add the fact that I will be making LESS on what I sell, the tool pros will ALSO be commissioned. Right now, when they have a big sale they hand it over to a Lawn and Garden associate so we could make some money. On February 11th, that will change. They will want to ring up everything that they sell. So automatically, that's cuts our floor in half.
Now with lawn and garden and sporting goods, our sales depend heavily on the weather. So it's really nice when it's slow to be able to ring up some tools and make money that way. When they are on commission, being the nice people that we are, we're going to try and respect the boundries.
I currently average around $15.85 an hour... with this new plan, we figured that I'll make about $10 an hour. I'm not full time, but just imagine me being full time and taking almost a $6 an hour pay cut. If I were to work 2080 hours a year (40 hours a week) that would put me down a little over $12,000 a year.
Not cool.
So yeah, I'm a little unhappy.
And I'm sorry this is long, but man, this sucks!!
