i am ASTONISHED
This day was ridiculous in the best way. I practically floated around work. Library pages do two things, check in books that have been dropped in the drop boxes throughout the day and shelve books. We also help customers find what they need but its an entirely different animal. Here are some situations I observed
C (for CUSTOMER!)
Me (oops, let me get that dropped book)
c: *looks confused*
me: need some help?
c: yeah i'm looking for a biography by gardner?
me: oh, okay. biographies are over here *leads them over* and... gardner... right here! *pulls book*
c: thanks!
me: you're welcome! *wanders back to my shelving*
NEXT ONE!
*whiskey is shelving in the warzone (childrens section)
cb (customers baby): AAAAAHhh
c: *harsh whisper* hey! we're in the library you cant yell like that!
cb: AH--
c: no! if you yell i'm taking you home and you dont get any books!
cb: *looks at me*
me:
ANOTHER ONE?
cb: aaaaaahhh-----
c: alright, we're leaving!
cb: O_O;
c: you cant yell in the library. you have to whisper and behave!
cb: *sits down*
I was like:
all day long.
WONDERFUL JOB IS WONDERFUL AND DELIGHTFUL AND FULL OF ROSES AND LOVE AND UNICORNS (and crown royal) AND KITTENS
Also, the guys I was shadowing today told my supervisor I worked my butt off and did a great job. She insisted on driving me home since I had biked there and said it was my first day and didnt need to bike home. I literally had no choice. On the way home she said I did a great job, i told her I loved the job and if they ever needed someone to cover a shift I could pick up more hours with no problem so long as its after noon Monday-Thursday. I followed up with "i know its a county position and part time is part time, but people get sick on short notice so I'm just letting you know ahead of time, i'm available"
she was like "NO! Thats wonderful! Let [her supervisor] know that! As soon as your email is set up on Monday email her and let her know that because we could really use it!"
So i might be getting more hours if I keep doing a good job

edit: OH and there was chocolate cake today! CHOCOLATE CAKE! One of the (really hot) guys i'm shadowing is transferring to another branch
