Can anyone figure this word out?

So I have a coworker with some sort of speech impediment. The easiest way to describe it is that she talks exactly like Homestar Runner. She's also not the best at spelling and such. So she asks me how to spell words pretty often.

Today's was... "Hey, how do you spell dahwry? It's like a bed."

Dahwry.

Diary? Dowry? Doughy? Drowning? I have no idea what she's trying to say here. And "like a bed" is the only description she could give me.

"Dowry"? Like a "bet"? Though that'd be a gross misunderstanding of Indian culture, I could see it.

I got nothin'. And that's *after* poking around in my Advanced English Dictionary (which is structured on meaning rather than alphabetically.)

Incidentally, it lists "bower" as "a framework that supports climbing plants". "Bowery" is "a street in Manhattan noted for cheap hotels frequented by homeless derelicts" and, as an adjective, refers to a shady, tree-covered road.

What springs to my mind is a dowery, or the gift the groom gives to the bride's father in return for permitting the marriage.

Beyond this, I'd have to agree with Whiskey, that it's probably a comforter for a daybed.

The Oxford English Dictionary has it as "A women's private room or bedroom" (Linkie)
