The amount of spots that needed to be reserved were not that many, but due to the cold weather, many people wanted to park. Plus it was very windy outside.
At one point there were only enough parking spots for the reservations that were posted on the Outlook calendar. I called the parking office to have the full sign turned on because the big white sign stating Visitor parking is closed for a special event would not stand upright in front of the Visitor parking entrance gate due to the windy weather.
Female drives up to the Visitor parking booth & tells me "Mr. Johnson told me you can give me a token to exit the garage." I ask her which dept. "Mr. Johnson" works in. She gives me the information, but according to the Outlook calendar, "Mr. Johnson" or anyone in the dept. he works at did not make parking arrangements for anyone. So I tell her "I'm sorry, but I do not have any tokens to give to anyone, & Visitor parking is closed for events, & so I have no parking spots available."
She then says "But he told me to park in Visitor parking. I am here for a meeting. Is there anyway you can help me?"
I tell her "I'm sorry, but I cannot help you."
At that point we both see a campus cop exit the faculty/staff garage, which is adjacent to Vistor parking.
The female flags down the campus cop. He walks up to the Visitor parking booth window & asks me if I called "Mr. Johnson". Ever since I have been working at the university as a parking attendant, I have never been allowed to call the person or dept. that did not make parking arrangements for their guest(s) when Visitor parking was closed for events. I am only allowed to call the dept. over Visitor parking, & currently it is the Parking office. So I told the campus cop "I'm sorry, but I am only allowed to call the Parking office."
He walks back to the female who was sitting inside her car waiting to park in Visitor parking. After speaking to her, he walks back to the Visitor parking booth window. He tells me "Mr. Johnson" told her she could park in Visitor parking." So I tell him "There are only enough spots for what is posted on the calendar, & "Mr. Johnson" did not make parking arrangements for anyone going to see him or anyone going to his dept."
He walks back to the female who was waiting inside her car. After speaking to her, he walks back to the Vsitor parking booth window. He asks me "Is the garage full?" I tell him "I only have enough parking spots for what is posted on the calendar. I do not have any other spots for anyone else."
He walks back to the female who was sitting inside her car. He tells her what I said. She backs up, & she parks somewhere else.
