I think guinea fowl are really cute, I keep trying to convince my mom to get some (I'd get some myself but I don't think my complex manager would be too happy about them.

We propped up a broom with the brush part braced on the counter and the handle poking up through the hole and shut the door.

That is darn brilliant, I must say! I probably would have been almost as panicky as the squirrel, and would have tried to catch the poor thing. Even worse, I likely would have tried to let it out through a door or something - then I'd have a freaked out squirrel on the loose in my house!

Aw, come on now, lady bugs are awesome. They used to overwinter in the bathroom at my old place and I thought it was amusing to have a bathroom full of ladybugs.

They eat things I DON'T want...and I garden...so....

Moved out and rented the place to a friend, who called me when the weather got cold. "Uh...there's a swarm of ladybugs in the crapper...what do I do?"

Oops. Kind of had forgotten about that.

There are the good ladybugs (the deep red ones) and the bad ones (the orange ones). I'm totally okay with the red ones but the orange ones smell bad and they get everywhere.

You wouldn't want to try that unless you could be really sure it wouldn't bite you. Those teeth can crack black walnuts, which have extremely tough shells (we tried smashing some black walnuts open with a hammer; took quite a few good hard swings to even make a dent).
